Swing trading on Betfair is the art of exploiting longer-term price moves for profit. It can be done on horse racing, football, tennis, greyhounds, or any other sports betting market.

Here’s a brief example below with a recent horse racing trade on Betfair Exchange, check out the back price in the footer column of El Camino and the corresponding lay price (3.1 and 2.72).

It was a relatively simple swing trade and with good reason. Explained fuly in this Betfair Swing Trading article.

The key to swing trading is to do it in the right time frame with the right indicators. Once you master this andavoid getting involved when you shouldn’t, it’s almost as simple as new traders think.

There’s a strong hint in the example above regarding the times.

You need to execute your swing trades on the Betfair Exchange within the live shows because this is where 90% of bets are struck. Tradeing too early can be disastrous, especially if you’re staking large and there isn’t a bulletproof reason for a significant market shift.

This is because swing trading is not like scalping, in fact they’re complete opposites…

Betfair Swing Trading v Scalping:

It’s an age-old question that all-new and intermediate Betfair traders tend to ask…

What’s better swing trading or scalping on the Betfair Exchange?

Now, I wish I had a one sentence answer for you but the reality is there’s several things to consider here.

Swing trading might be considered best if you’re looking to make one large profit quickly. However, scalping is far easier to make small and consistent profits as you need to rely why on market knowledge for less.

When I say market knowledge, I mean in terms of significant price movement.

So when weighing up what’s best; Betfair swing trading or scalping, you need to think about your end goal. Furthermore, you need to think about your own personal trading style and preference. This is extremely important because some people are very risk-averse, whereas others are quite happy to sit on a price movement for an extended period of time. Depending on your personality, you may find swing trading is a lot harder than scalping.

…Sorry for the difficult answer, I’m just being honest here.

Either way you need to understand which variables are most important. Knowing the variables and indicators that show you changes within key time frames is what matters most.
